Key Features of the Panasonic PT-50DL54

DLP TV Technology

HDTV/EDTV Display Capability (1080i, 720p, 480p)
Experience images with lifelike detail and clarity when viewing HDTV broadcasts (1080i/720p) and progressive scan DVD players (480p).

Progressive Cinema Scan (3/2 Pulldown)
Achieves exceptionally faithful movie reproduction through a sophisticated analog-to-digital conversion. Movies on film are converted to NTSC interlaced video (480i) for television by a process known as telecine conversion, in which the 24 frame-per-second film is converted to video at 60 fields per second. The fields are then paired to create 30-frame-per-second 480i video. Some of the frames will contain dissimilar pairs of fields derived from two different frames of the original film, which causes artifacts. Our Progressive Cinema Scan circuitry converts 480i video to 480p while restoring the original frames of the film for a more authentic movie reproduction.

Enhanced Progressive Scan Doubler
Provides even more image enhancement than our previous progressive scan technology by improving the quality of diagonal lines in a moving picture. It displays a full frame of video in 1/60th of a second by de-interlacing the incoming video signal and progressively scanning the image. With it, you generally don't see the horizontal scan lines that can be visible in ordinary television images.

16:9 Aspect Ratio
Widescreen TVs feature a width-to-height ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing cinema-style entertainment at home. Also enables full-screen viewing of high-definition broadcasts and DVDs produced in 16:9 format.

1280 x 720 Pixel Resolution
The high pixel count of our multimedia displays allows them to accept and display native 720p HDTV program material, providing incredibly detailed, high-resolution images.

Motion-Adaptive 3D-Y/C Digital Comb Filter
Displays bright colors and fast-moving scenes with incredible clarity by minimizing the "color rainbow effect" in closely spaced patterns, compensating for the motion that occurs between fields.

Wideband Video Amplifier
Expands the video signal frequency response to more than 10 MHz, allowing for an incredible horizontal resolution capability.

Audio System

SonicPath Audio System
This new surround sound system provides thrilling audio to accompany high definition video. Exclusive to our 2003 Digital Device Displays, the four speakers in the SonicPath system deliver crystal clear BBE® High Definition Sound3. The speakers are specially positioned on either side of the LCD screen for maximum stereo separation. The positioning also provides a direct sound path to the viewer to maximize the home theater experience.

BBE® High-Definition Sound
Improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of musical passages to help provide a more natural sound.

Input/Output Terminals

DVI-HDCP Interface
Used by newer HDTV set-top boxes and DVD players, the DVI-HDCP connection allows the transmission of uncompressed, copy-protected digital content to your high definition display with stunning image fidelity and clarity.

Other Features

PC Display Capability (VGA, SVGA, and XGA)
The Panasonic Multimedia Projection Display is the ideal centerpiece for a media room, since it can be used as a computer monitor for large-screen multimedia applications.

Photo Viewer SD / PC Card Slot
Allows you to easily display still photos that you've captured onto your digital camera's SD Memory Card on a Panasonic Digital Device Display. Photos can be viewed as a slide show, or in photo-album format. You can also easily rotate images using the remote control.

2-Tuner Picture-in-Picture with Split-Screen Display
Lets you view two programs at once by dividing the screen in half down the middle. Each program is shown at full height, with one program on the left side and the other on the right. Audio is played form the program on the left. To listen to the audio from the program on the right, simply switch the pictures using the SWAP button.

Scalable P-I-P Image Size
Lets you choose the size of the picture-in-picture window from as small as 1/16 to as large as 1/4 of the main picture.

PC/Video Split-Screen Display
Allows you to display a TV signal and computer data simultaneously, so you can watch TV and surf the Internet at the same time.
